Christ Church Choir

Our Choir Director

Judy Young came to us with a great deal of choral and managerial experience with St. Mary Magdalene in Toronto, the Amadeus Choir, the Elmer Iseler Singers, Toronto Mendelssohn Choir and the Festival Singers of Canada. Judy has a wonderful sense of humour and a warm personality that fits perfectly with our Choir. Her husband Bob is also in the bass section. Introduce yourself the next time you see them.

Great Singing

Old & New Hymns

The Choir at Christ Church Anglican plays an important leadership role in worship, providing music that runs from folk and gospel through to compositions from modern composers, related in a worshipful way to the day's readings. It is always done with flair and dedication to a high level of musical achievement. Choir members enjoy the challenge of learning new music continually.

The Choir continues to attract those with musical interest, including members from Men of Note and Bach to Blues. There are currently 22 members, both men and women, in a wide range of age and skills level.

New members share in learning new choral music in a warm and friendly environment. Experienced leadership is provided by Judy Young, a highly qualified musician with a background in choral singing and conducting. Supporting Judy is David Cadogan on organ and piano, an equally talented and dedicated musician. Other instrumental soloists join the choir from time to time to enhance the music presentation.

At Easter, the choir joins in an ecumenical service with other area choirs. As one choir member expresses it, "music is a part of my life, and I feel that I can make a commitment to worship through music."

The choir sings at the 10 am Sunday morning service and on other special church occasions. Practices are held every Thursday evening from 8 to 10 pm.

Whether you are a newcomer to the parish or a long time member, and you wish to explore participating in some way in this successful choir, just speak to Judy Young or one of the choir members, they will gladly explain more.
